Zach Barrows is a cocky, ambitious White House employee until he's abruptly transferred out and partnered with Nathaniel Cade, a secret agent sworn to protect the president. But Cade is no ordinary civil servant. Bound 140 years ago by a special blood oath, Nathanial Cade is a vampire. On the orders of the president he defends the nation against enemies far stranger-and even more dangerous-than civilians like Zach could ever imagine.

I stumbled across Blood Oath quite by accident. I was visiting an arts fair and walked into the booth for our library. There, among the many books for sale, sat the presidential seal with a bat. It intrigued me. I enjoyed reading it although I missed connecting with the vampire. We learn a little about him – how he came to be a vampire – how he came to be the President’s vampire. Chris Farnsworth has created an interesting vampire in that he is basically an evil creature who is bound by a Blood Oath to be good – a protector. He is offended by the use of blasphemy and fights his thirst for human blood. But we never forget that he is dangerous. Definitely a must read.
