When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret. What Bella doesn't realize is that the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And it might be too late to turn back . . . Deeply seductive and irresistibly compelling, TWILIGHT is a love story that will stay with you long after you have turned the final page.

Way too much brooding for me. Still this has a very legitimate place within the vampire realm and is loved by many vampire aficionados both young and old. My nephew makes fun of it all the time, yet I catch him watching it over and over. I have a sneaking suspicion that is true of many of the hecklers. There are several farces made from it already. And I find that as much as I shake my head, when it is on, I watch it as well. I feel the book is far superior to the movie in the case of the first book. My biggest problem is the mopping vampire and, well, the mopping teen age girl. Can you say “argh”? Still there is a love triangle beginning here which grows up later on.
